“Into the Fire” DVD Release

Since "Into the Fire" first aired on The History Channel® in October, many people have written to ask both when it will be broadcast again and when they can buy their own copy. The wait is nearly over! Not only will The History Channel replay "Into the Fire" on February 11th at 1PM/12 Central, the DVD version will be available for online purchase beginning February 1st. The DVD will contain exciting special features, including deleted scenes and messages from actor Gary Sinise and National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Executive Director Ron Siarnicki.

Community Awareness and Fundraising Opportunity

Presented by Fireman's Fund, "Into the Fire" is an outgrowth of the Fireman's Fund HeritageSM program and an effort to build awareness of the challenges faced by firefighters across the country. What's more, we are using the movie as an ongoing, national fundraiser for the fire service.

Ray Caballero, right, and other members of the Chicago Fire Department. "Into the Fire" features Caballero's story of rescuing a neighbor from her burning house.

"This was the very best fire service film I have ever seen."

— District Chief Donald Foster, Sumter County Fire Rescue, Bushnell, Fla.

For every DVD sold online, seven dollars will go directly to the fire service. Purchasers can even designate that five of the seven dollars go to a fire department of their choice. The remaining two dollars—or all seven dollars if no fire department is designated—goes to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's "Into the Fire" fund. Fireman's Fund also encourages fire departments nationally to use this powerful documentary themselves as a tool to build community awareness and even raise funds directly. Your department can host a screening of "Into the Fire" at a station open house, county fair, local theater or other venue. Fireman's Fund can help. We will provide a sample incident action plan modeled on the Incident Command System. By itself, or as part of a community presentation, "Into the Fire" is sure to capture your audience's attention and give them a better understanding of the issues your department faces every day.

Fire departments are also welcome to sell the DVDs at events—whether or not a screening is involved. Departments may then use these funds for their own needs, for a local burn center, firefighter memorial or other worthy cause. Fireman's Fund will make the DVDs available at wholesale cost to departments, who may then determine their own suggested donation level. Contact us at heritage@ffic.com if your department is interested in learning more about how to benefit by screening or selling "Into the Fire."
