Fireman’s Fund Teams Up with Bullard on TICs

Although the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company has provided grants to fire departments for equipment ranging from fire hose to communications equipment, our most popular grant request by far is for thermal imaging cameras. We have provided over $1 million in grants to fire departments for approximately 100 thermal imagers since the Fireman's Fund Heritage^SM program began in 2004. And it will probably come as no surprise that departments have reported back to us on lives saved and damage averted as a result of these extraordinary devices.

All models come in a unique white casing and bear the Fireman's Fund logo and fire helmet.

That's why Fireman's Fund wants to help ensure that every responding engine company has a thermal imager. In order to provide more of these life-saving devices to fire departments that need them, we partnered with Bullard, one of the leading manufacturers of thermal imaging cameras. As suppliers of fire service equipment for over three quarters of a century, they understand Fireman's Fund's commitment to support firefighters and wanted to help.

As a result, Bullard now provides special pricing for its thermal imager models when purchased through a Fireman's Fund Heritage grant. This will allow Fireman's Fund ultimately to give more TICs (and other equipment) to more departments in need. Discounts for departments receiving a grant through Fireman's Fund vary, but are roughly twenty percent off Bullard's published prices. In other words, for every four TICs we were able to provide before, we can now provide five.

Remember, the Fireman's Fund Heritage program does not award grants through a traditional application process. Instead our employees and independent agents decide where to direct grants. You can ask an independent insurance agent near you who offers Fireman's Fund products if they are involved in the program. Tell them how a thermal imaging camera in your department can make your whole community safer.

TIC Models Currently Discounted for Fireman's Fund

• T3XT Thermal Imager. The addition of the Super Red Hot™ feature to this model displays dangerous heat levels in color. Starting at 500°F, heated objects are tinted yellow and gradually transition to solid red as heat levels rise.
• T3Max Thermal Imager. Adds Bullard's Electronic Thermal Throttle™ feature for locating hot spots during overhaul and searching for overheated electrical equipment.
• T4 Thermal Imager. This new model offers the latest technology to the fire service in a small, lightweight and compact package. Integrates an ultra-high resolution infrared engine, widescreen display, digital zoom, Super Red Hot™ colorization and Electronic Thermal Throttle™.

A History of Supplying the Fire Service

Bullard started out as a supplier of safety equipment for miners in the late 1800s, and developed what has come to be known as the hard hat. Following this development, Bullard engineers designed the company's first fire helmet in 1930. Bullard also developed and introduced the first fiberglass fire helmet in 1947 and the first NFPA-approved thermoplastic fire helmet in 1983. Already a recognized leader in the fire safety products market with its line of fire helmets, Bullard introduced its first thermal imager in 1998. Since then, Bullard has pioneered innovations such as the hand-held TIC and color technology. Bullard's TICs are best-sellers in the market today.
